What Is
A Recovery Residence?
The Role of Recovery Residences in Early Addiction Recovery
A recovery residence, also known as a sober living home or supportive housing for addiction recovery, is a structured, substance-free living environment that supports individuals in early recovery from substance use disorders. Unlike residential treatment centers, recovery residences are not clinical programs. Instead, they provide a safe, stable, and recovery-focused home where residents can build life skills, strengthen their sobriety, and reintegrate into daily living with peer support and accountability.
Healing Rock Homes sober living homes operate under a social model of recovery, where residents support one another in a shared commitment to abstinence. While clinical treatment is not provided onsite, the recovery residences require residents to attend outside support meetings, maintain employment or volunteer work, and follow house rules such as curfews and random drug screening. This type of housing is an important part of the recovery journey for those transitioning out of inpatient or outpatient treatment programs.
